Well worth a visit are the waterfalls of Algar, known locally as “Fonts del Algar”, about 20 km inland from Benidorm. The waterfalls and the natural park of Algar can be found near Callosa d’en Sarría. The park is well maintained and it is possible to swim in the many waters. Although the temperature is about 17 to 18 degrees all year round, there is a lot of swimming and picnicking, especially in the summer. In addition to the streams, thanks to the typical Mediterranean climate, a lot of native flora and fauna can be seen. You can combine this attraction with Guadalest, an originally Islamic town on a mountain with a castle; “El Castel de Guadalest”. Here you can visit various museums and historic buildings. There are also many tourist shops and restaurants. At the very top of the mountain, you have a beautiful view of the reservoir.
